About the Institute


The Allahabad Agricultural Institute was established in 1910 as a Department of Allahabad Christian College (presently known as Ewing Christian College). In 1911, the Agricultural and Technical Departments of the college were shifted across the Jamuna River from Allahabad and Allahabad Christian College on a 264 acre of badly eroded land purchased for the purpose of Agricultural Institute.


Infrastructure Facilities


The University has four hostels on campus, three for men and two for women students. Single bedrooms, double bed rooms and multiple bedrooms are available in all the hostels. All the rooms are furnished and well ventilated catering.

Sports Activities


The University encourages the students to promote their physical and mental level through various sports and games. Facilities are provided to the students, who show their interest in their respective sports / games, under the sharp supervision of qualified instructors. Sports facilities available at AAI-DU, include basket ball, tennis, badminton and volleyball courts, Institute also has well maintained football hockey and cricket fields, a running tract of 400 metres. Table tennis room and a well equipped Gym. To enhance the interest of students and to inculcate competitive spirit, various faculty accommodate students of various programmes. Inter house matches are organized through out the session and the performance of every house team is recorded for the overall all championship.


The National Service Scheme: The University is a unit of NSS Membership in the NSS is open to all students who want to join. Camps are organized during holidays and vacations providing opportunity to the NSS students to contribute in various schemes of national development.


National Cadet Corps: Regular camps are organized at the Battalion level. The students are trained to develop leadership, character, sportsmanship, and confidence and to create a force of trained and disciplined youths, which could be utilized in an emergency of the nation.


Student Support Services


Auxiliary Units: To promote agriculture education and to provide financial support to the educational and development activities and rural Church development, the Deemed University maintains economically and technologically viable Agricultural production and service units known as auxiliary units which comprise of the Agricultural farm of the Deemed University which is also used as an applied training centre for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Faculty of Agriculture. It consists of several smaller units like horticulture / orchard, nursery, fruit and vegetable preservation, processing, production and marketing. The other units are dairy, collective farm, piggery, fisheries, poultry, dairy processing plant (Student's training Dairy) research maintenance and development workshop.


Student Activities


Students are always encouraged to participate in a variety of social and recreational activities, which are organized through out the year. Various academic societies and cultural clubs on the campus promote students overall personality development.
